Subject Overview

Business Management examines the ways businesses manage resources to achieve objectives. This subject follows the process from the initial idea for a business concept, to planning and establishing a business, through to the day-to-day management of a business. Business Management helps you acquire the key skills and knowledge required to pursue further business commerce related studies.

Unit 1 & 2

In Unit 1 & 2 you will:

  • Study Business Ownership
  • Explore affecting business planning/decision making
  • Learn about legal and financial requirements when establishing a business
  • Explore marketing strategies
  • Learn about staffing a business

Unit 3 & 4

In Unit 3 & 4 you will:

  • Understand the key characteristics of business, for example; stakeholders’ interests, management styles and corporate culture
  • Strategies to manage and motivate employees
  • Learn operation management strategies
  • Analyse performance of a business to inform and implement changes to business examples
