Subject Overview
Italian involves the study of the Italian language and culture. Learning Italian can help improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. It can boost problem solving and analytical thinking skills. It can also help you fully appreciate the richness of Italian literature, history and culture.
** VCE Italian is designed for students who have typically studied the language for at least 200 hours prior to the commencement of Unit 1.
Please Note: Where there are not enough students to have a class at our college, this subject will be offered through Languages other than English (LOTE) VSL.
Unit 1 & 2
In Unit 1 & 2 you will study a variety of themes and topics, including:
- Personal identity and lifestyles
- Education and aspirations
- Italian culture and heritage including food, film, customs and traditions
- The influence of science and technology
- Historical / contemporary people and events e.g. The Italian Renaissance and feminism
Unit 3 & 4
In Unit 3 & 4 you will study a variety of themes and topics, including:
- Relationships
- Communication and media
- Living in an Italian community
- Global and contemporary society
