Subject Overview
English enables students to develop their analysis skills and they will read a variety of texts and extend their skills in reading, responding, creating and speaking. It is the only compulsory VCE subject and a requirement for tertiary entrance.
Unit 1 & 2
In Unit 1 & 2 you will:
- Study print and non-print texts; e.g., short stories, novel, play, film
- Present a persuasive Oral Presentation
- Study Media Texts – news articles
Craft your own writing and a reflective commentary, having looked at a variety of forms of writing
Unit 3 & 4
In Unit 3 & 4 you will:
- Read and respond to a variety of texts including plays, novels, short stories, and films
- Analyse an issue in the media in detail
- Create and present a persuasive argument in oral form
- Create your own writing and a reflective commentary
