About MELC

MELC is a Victorian Department of Education (DE) government school. We cater for students arriving in Mildura from countries all over the world for whom English is an additional language. Students at MELC are aged between 5 and 18 years of age.

The curriculum at MELC is taken directly from the EAL Curriculum produced by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). Our focus is English as an Additional Language (EAL). We also cover all subject areas including, Mathematics, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, and the Personal and Social capabilities.

To provide best practice EAL pedagogy for newly arrived students in an inclusive welcoming environment empowering them and their families to participate in education and contribute to Australian society.

MELC Eligibility

To be eligible for enrolment at MELC students need an approved visa. Please call the centre to discuss eligible visas. Enrolment requires a Passport or Immi Card, Medicare Card or Private Health Insurance as well as Visa documentation. Records of Vaccination are also required and will be requested by future schools in Australia.
